Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Wontons

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 wontons

Description

These irresistible wontons feature a creamy, tangy strawberry cheesecake filling encased in a golden, crispy fried wrapper. They’re a perfect bite-sized dessert that’s easy to make and incredibly satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (226g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (approx. 80g) fresh strawberries, finely diced
  • 24 square wonton wrappers
  • Water, for sealing
  • 34 cups neutral frying oil (canola, vegetable, or peanut)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Cheesecake Filling. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until completely smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the finely diced fresh strawberries.
  • Step 2: Assemble the Wontons. Lay a wonton wrapper flat. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center. Moisten the edges with water. Fold diagonally to form a triangle, pressing firmly to seal, ensuring no air pockets. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Step 3: Heat the Oil. Heat frying oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain temperature.
  • Step 4: Fry the Wontons. Carefully place 3-4 wontons into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd. Fry for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Step 5: Drain and Dust. Remove fried wontons with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm. Serve immediately.
