  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Description

Indulge in the ultimate appetizer: creamy, molten brie baked to perfection with sweet fig jam. This easy-to-make dish is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-16 ounce) wheel of Brie cheese
  • 24 tablespoons fig jam (or alternative fruit preserves)
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for drizzling)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds), toasted (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, if using pastry)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • If using puff pastry, unroll it onto the prepared baking sheet. Place the brie in the center. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of fig jam onto the top of the brie.
  • Carefully bring the edges of the puff pastry up and over the brie, pinching to seal. Brush with egg wash if desired.
  • If not using pastry, place brie on the baking sheet and lightly score the top. Spoon fig jam onto the scored top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes (with pastry) or 15-20 minutes (without pastry), until golden brown and gooey.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with toasted nuts, if using.
  • Serve warm with crackers, baguette slices, or fresh fruit.
