Ingredients
- 6 slices sturdy bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or white)
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
- 8 slices roasted turkey breast, thinly sliced
- 6 slices cooked bacon, crispy
- 2 slices cheddar, provolone, or Swiss cheese (optional)
- 4–6 lettuce leaves (Romaine or green leaf)
- 1 ripe tomato, thinly sliced
- 1/2 ripe avocado, thinly sliced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Toothpicks or skewers for securing
Instructions
- 1. Prepare Ingredients: Cook bacon until crispy. Slice turkey, cheese, tomato, and avocado. Wash and dry lettuce.
- 2. Toast Bread: Toast all 6 slices of bread until golden brown and crisp. Let cool slightly.
- 3. Spread Base: Spread mayonnaise on one side of each toasted bread slice. On two of the slices, add a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the mayo.
- 4. First Layer: On one mayo/mustard-spread slice, layer half the turkey, half the bacon, and one slice of cheese (if using).
- 5. Second Layer: Place a second mayo/mustard-spread slice on top. Layer with remaining turkey, bacon, and the second slice of cheese (if using).
- 6. Add Freshness: Top with lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and avocado slices. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- 7. Finish & Serve: Place the third, plain mayo-spread slice of toast on top. Gently press down. Secure with toothpicks and slice diagonally into quarters. Serve immediately.
