This easy Cheesy Kielbasa & Pierogi Skillet recipe brings together smoky kielbasa, tender pierogi, and gooey cheese in one pan. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal perfect for any weeknight.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 14 oz (about 1 package) smoked kielbasa, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper (any color), diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 16 oz (about 1 package) frozen potato and cheese pierogi
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (freshly grated recommended)
- Optional: Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Prep Your Ingredients: Slice kielbasa, dice onion and bell pepper, and mince garlic.
- 2. Brown the Kielbasa: Heat olive oil/butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add kielbasa and cook until browned and slightly crispy, 3-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- 3. Sauté Aromatics: Reduce heat to medium. Add onion and bell pepper to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- 4. Add Pierogi and Broth: Return kielbasa to the skillet. Arrange frozen pierogi evenly. Pour in broth and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- 5. Simmer and Soften: Bring to a gentle simmer, then cover and cook over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes, or until pierogi are tender, stirring occasionally.
- 6. Stir in Cheese & Serve: Remove from heat. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top. Cover for 2-3 minutes until melted and gooey. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
