Crispy Homemade Air Fryer French Fries

  • Total Time: 29 minute
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

Achieve perfectly crispy, golden-brown French fries with a fluffy interior, all made in your air fryer with minimal oil. This recipe guarantees restaurant-quality results at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Russet potatoes (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt (plus more to taste)
  • Cold water, for soaking

Instructions

  • 1. Prep & Soak: Peel potatoes (optional) and cut into 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick sticks. Place in a large bowl, cover with cold water, and soak for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours).
  • 2. Dry Thoroughly: Drain potatoes completely. Spread them on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and pat them absolutely dry. This step is crucial for crispiness.
  • 3. Season & Oil: Transfer dried fries to a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Toss well to ensure an even coating on all fries.
  • 4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
  • 5. Air Fry in Batches: Arrange fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • 6. Cook & Shake: Air fry for 15-25 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5-7 minutes, until deeply golden brown and crispy.
  • 7. Serve: Transfer to a serving bowl, season with additional salt if desired, and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
  • Prep Time: 20 mins (plus 30 min soak)
  • Cook Time: 20-25 mins
