Nectarine Mint Sweet Tea

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Description

This refreshing Nectarine Mint Sweet Tea is the perfect summer drink, blending the sweetness of ripe nectarines with invigorating fresh mint and robust black tea. It’s easy to make and incredibly satisfying on a warm day.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped ripe nectarines (about 34 medium)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, lightly packed (for simple syrup)
  • 4 cups fresh water (for brewing tea)
  • 46 black tea bags (depending on desired strength)
  • Fresh nectarine slices and mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Nectarine-Mint Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine chopped nectarines, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup water, and 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until nectarines are soft. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing solids to extract liquid. Discard solids.
  • Brew the Black Tea: Bring 4 cups of fresh water to a rolling boil. Place 4-6 black tea bags in a heatproof pitcher. Pour boiling water over tea bags. Steep for 5-7 minutes, then remove tea bags, gently squeezing out excess liquid.
  • Combine and Chill: Pour the brewed black tea into a large pitcher. Add the cooled nectarine-mint simple syrup. Stir well to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or preferably overnight, until thoroughly chilled.
  • Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the Nectarine Mint Sweet Tea over ice. Garnish each glass with a fresh nectarine slice and a sprig of fresh mint. Serve immediately.
