Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef or turkey
- 1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 large head iceberg or romaine lettuce, chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend
- 1 (10 oz) bag Nacho Cheese Doritos, lightly crushed
- For the Dressing:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1–2 tbsp milk (optional, for consistency)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: Dash of hot sauce

- Step 1: Cook the Taco Meat: In a large skillet, brown ground beef or turkey over medium-high heat, breaking it apart. Drain excess grease. Stir in taco seasoning and 1/2 cup water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Step 2: Prepare Vegetables and Cheese: While meat cools, chop lettuce, dice tomatoes, and finely chop red onion. Shred cheese if not pre-shredded.
- Step 3: Make the Dressing: In a medium bowl, whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, and milk (if using) until smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and hot sauce (if desired).
- Step 4: Assemble the Salad: In a large serving bowl, combine chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, cooled taco meat, and shredded cheese. Pour about half of the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
- Step 5: Add Doritos and Serve: Just before serving, lightly crush the Doritos and sprinkle them over the salad. Toss one final time and serve immediately.
